Osteoma (OM) is a benign neoplasm composed of slow-growing cortical and cancellous bone that progressively increases in size due to the continuous formation of bone tissue. According to their site of origin, they are classified as central, peripheral and extraskeletal. Their pathogenesis is unknown and it has been suggested that they may be the result of a reactive mechanism in the face of aggression, trauma, or infection. They affect young adults, with no preference for sex. It is presented as a case of a 40-year-old male patient referred for presenting an increase in volume in the lower border of the left side of the jaw. The study with multislice computed tomography revealed a hyperdense image, with defined edges, rounded, located in the left posterior area of the mandibular body, presenting a density similar to the adjacent cortical bone. The image showed tomographic signs of OM. The histopathological study confirmed the clinical diagnosis.
